104 Mobile Marketing Facts

July 28, 2017      Tom Belford

Are you reading this email on a mobile device? Industry stats would suggest that 7 out of 10 of you are. That’s right, 69% of emails these days are opened on mobile devices

That said, I’d still like to fantasize that most Agitator readers are comfortably seated at your desks, morning coffee readily at hand, taking in all that Agitator wisdom (or ranting) on a big wide desktop screen, counting your Agitator time in minutes, not seconds (the data says the average time spent reading an email is 11 seconds).

Speaking of emails, can you really enjoy this Dilbert cartoon on a smartphone?!

Seriously, think about all those fundraising emails you’re sending out. Have you looked at how they (and your website) render on mobile devices? The stats on mobile use — and effectiveness in e-commerce terms — are compelling.

Browse through the stats in the infographic below, provided by WebsiteBuilder.

You might note that 37% of consumers are more likely to purchase from a mobile-optimized site.

Or that 60% of searches (e.g., Who can I support to stop oil drilling in the Arctic? Who can I donate to in my town to provide food for those in need?) are now made from mobile devices.

Keeping in mind that 18% of mobile users will abandon a website if it doesn’t load in less than 5 seconds.*

A recent article in NonProfitPRO cited these stats on mobile donating: “Of all donations in 2016, 17 percent were given through a mobile device (vs. 14 percent in 2015 and 9 percent in 2014). On this past Giving Tuesday, 22 percent of all donations were sent through a mobile device.”

Hope you’ve got your mobile act together!

*EEEK! I just tried The Agitator on my iPhone and it took 8 seconds. [Readers, let us know how you make out!] Crank up the generator, Roger!

Um, I have to say that not being able to read the Agitator’s intro on my iphone was one of the reasons that I stopped subscribing. I am subscribing again, but after this post I expect email improvements. 🙂 Thanks for the info as usual.

I thought the same thing…I have often noted that the Agitator is not mobile friendly and hard to read on a mobile phone, thus the average time of 11 seconds…Something to think about …
