“All You Need Is Love”

January 19, 2017      Tom Belford

“All you need is love, da…da…da-da…da. All you need is love, da da da-da da. All you need is love, love. Love is all you need.”

The Beatles say so (and raised more money than most of us). Agents of Good says so. And Jeff Brooks says so.

So it must be so.

So let the donor love flow!

Says Agents of Good: “We are calling for a #DonorLove revolution. Let’s apply all our talk about innovation, big ideas and transformation to ways we can celebrate, nurture and cherish our donors. Let’s be as rigorous, curious and disciplined about stewardship as we are about ROI.”

‘Stewardship’ is a concept rich in meaning. Agents of Good offers seven principles for delivering it.

Jeff offers five more of his own for working on donor love, and concludes: “But most of all, keep thinking about it, and keep trying.”

Amen!

Tom

P.S. And when it comes to the nitty gritty of communicating the love message, Jeff’s How to Turn Your Words into Money: The Master Fundraiser’s Guide to Persuasive Writing shows you how. Picked by CausePlanet as one of the six best books for nonprofits in 2016. Tomorrow I’ll mention another one.
