Audubon en Español

Whenever we see a US nonprofit doing something special to address the huge potential Hispanic audience, The Agitator likes to draw attention to it. So today, ‘felicitaciones’ to the National Audubon Society.

According to Pew Research, about 36 million people in the US speak Spanish at home.

Recognising that, as reported by NiemanLabs, Audubon is translating into Spanish many of the web-only stories on the main Audubon.org site as well as the entirety of its flagship bimonthly magazine. It’s also making available in Spanish one of its cornerstone field guides on North American birds (80% of which are found also in the Caribbean and Latin America).

That’s a smart move by Audubon to broaden its base.

What are you doing to broaden yours?
