Be Happy. No Water!

March 23, 2015      Admin

What a difference a day or two makes.

On Friday, I was greeted by several sources pointing out that it was World Happiness Day. And who other than the troubador of happiness Pharrell Williams was addressing the United Nations on the subject.

There are a variety of ‘world happiness’ measures floating around. If you want to know how happy you should feel, given the country you’re living in, try the Happy Planet Index … it’s a shocker.

I was inspired to put together this short collection of ‘Be Happy’ music videos.

[I’ll go with Bob Marley.]

But … my happiness was short-lived.

Barely a day later I received an email from Charity:Water informing me that Sunday was World Water Day.

However, this is not a day to celebrate. Because 748 million people are today living without clean water.

Charity:Water, as usual, delivered its message with powerful video … ‘I Am Water’ …

Once again, a reminder of the power and ‘shareability’ of online video. And the relativity of happiness.

We have a new 6-year-old granddaughter from Sierra Leone. We were discussing Africa, and she said, “I saw many dead people, but I had clean water!”

Just one of many reasons I am against the concept of “lawns”. We are so spoiled here in the USA. If you’re adding to your garden or landscape this spring, plant native plants only! And promote the use of greywater in your own community!

Great video! Wow that is a crazy figure – 748 million people without clean water.
