Every now and then we like to remind readers that email, not social media, is still the “top dog” when it comes to nonprofit communications, especially fundraising.

Here are some useful email tips from commercial online marketer Max Kalehoff.

  1. Define Goal & Strategy
  2. Electrify Your Subject Line
  3. Avoid Spammy Language (hopefully not a lot of nonprofits are using the word ‘Viagra’)
  4. Personalize & Forge Connection
  5. Hook The Reader
  6. Introduce A Solution & Build Credibility
  7. Spoon-Feed A Clear Path & Take Responsibility
  8. Keep It Simple & Beautiful
  9. Restate Your Point At The End
  10. Send At The Right Time
  11. Test & Iterate
