Facebook Facts
Facebook celebrated its 10th birthday last week (didn’t we just see the birthing movie?), and Pew Research marked the occasion with a heap of recent research findings about Facebook users.
Here are some highlights …
- Facebook is used by 57% of all American adults, with 64% of those visiting the site on a daily basis.
- Video and photo sharing is the major reason for using Facebook.
- 44% of Facebook users ‘like’ content posted by others at least once a day, with 29% doing so several times per day.
- Half of all adult Facebook users have more than 200 friends in their network (the median number for those age 50-64 is 75, for those age 65+ it’s 30). Impressive tentacles!
- Even the non-users are exposed: 52% of those who do not use Facebook themselves say that someone in their household does.
And finally, when the love dies …
22% have been asked to unfriend a former romantic partner!
