Fundraising & Advocacy Campaigns In A Box
We’ve just added a remarkable widget to The Agitator Toolbox that strikes us as a dream come true for fundraisers and action campaigners in this age of mobile and video. And judging from the response rates I’ve seen, it’s not only remarkable but powerful as well.
It’s called “Spark” and it functions like a mini-website – your donors, activists, or prospects can watch a video, sign a petition, donate, and much more. It’s entirely portable meaning entire mini-site can be delivered via email, or embedded in a newsletter, banner ad, blog, added to Facebook Pages and Timelines and, of course delivered on Mobile.
Developed by Call2Action, the Spark widget is truly a campaign in a box. Spark allows supporters to take action immediately after viewing a video by signing petitions, registering to volunteer, enrolling for updates, and making donations.
Spark is loaded with powerful features. I was especially struck by its geolocation tools that allow organizations to drive action locally by providing the nearest event and registration link, donation drop-off point or voter registration facility, whether the supporters are on computers or using mobile.
For an example of how Spark is being used watch the Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month Campaign.
This month is Feeding America’s annual campaign, Hunger Action Month. Corporate sponsor, The Cheesecake Factory, is donating 25 cents for every slice of OREO® Dream Extreme Cheesecake sold. The Spark enables each partner to leverage their individual networks. Both The Cheesecake Factory and Feeding America post this co-branded campaign to their websites and Facebook pages, including 250 participating restaurant sites, 200 Feeding America chapter sites, 2.9 million Cheesecake Factory fans and more than 300,000 Feeding America Facebook fans.
And since Spark can be shared (and as we’ve reported, folks tend to share cause content significantly more than traditional advertising), apparently The Cheesecake Factory is enjoying substantial new peer-to-peer traction.
One of the features I’ve found particularly attractive is that once a Spark is distributed it can be updated with new content, campaign reports, you name it, quickly and easily. The updated material then reaches everyone regardless of the device they’re using.
According to Call2Action, the Spark widget has been integrated to work with a number of CRMs. To learn more about this and to see other examples of Spark in action just click here.
Check out Spark and if you have a hankering to help Feeding America and dig into some cheesecake, click here, then click on the nav box marked “Cheese Cake.”

P.S. As you explore this new tool please let Tom and me know what you think. And don’t forget to try that cheese cake.
