It Took Roger 40 Years!

December 22, 2014      Admin

Forty years for him … a few hours for you.

It took Roger forty years, but he finally completed his first book last August, Retention Fundraising: The New Art and Science of Keeping Your Donors for Life. Have you read it yet? What better time than over this holiday season?

Because you know you should be doing a better job at holding and nurturing your current donors. And, at last, 2015 is the year you’re going to do something about it. And nothing will point you down the right path than Roger’s Retention Fundraising.

40 years of Roger’s experience — focused on what he regards as the most important but under-appreciated task of fundraising, simply holding on to your donors — all wrapped up for you to absorb in a few hours (although mastering and implementing the advice will take a bit longer). What a Christmas present!

I suspect you didn’t get a copy under your Christmas tree, but not to worry, you can still read it over the holiday break — it’s available right now as an e-book!

Here’s what I said back in August when the book was FINALLY published …

Buy Roger’s Book, Or Else!

Roger has written a book on donor retention. It’s titled: Retention Fundraising: The New Art and Science of Keeping Your Donors for Life. And FINALLY … it’s ready to order!

I’ve read the book four times now in its various draft iterations. And learned more each time. And I thought I was already on top of the subject.

This book has been a labor of love for Roger (despite his protestations), because he’s passionate about fundraising … and more specifically, passionate about helping you succeed at fundraising.

And so he’s picked as his focus what he regards as the single most urgent – and rewarding – improvement that you (and most fundraisers) need to make in your game … building donor commitment and lifting donor retention.

I know you’re a proud, self-assured fundraiser. And you probably think you play a terrific retention game. But I’ll wager you’re leaving money on the court. Think of Roger’s book as Stefan Edberg talking to Roger Federer … Boris Becker talking to Novak Djokovic … you get the point.

So get Retention Fundraising and read it.

Here’s what you’re looking for …

With chapters on Why Donors Leave, Barriers to Retention, The 7 Key Drivers of Donor Commitment, Easy Retention Wins, Why the CFO Will Love You … and heaps more. Theory to practice … it’s all in Retention Fundraising. Click here to order.

As Roger writes: “There’s a proven process now for increasing donor retention — for plugging the holes in the bucket through which our donors are pouring. By understanding and putting this process to work, we can add tens of thousands or even millions of dollars to our organizations’ bottom lines.”

Or else!

OK, so Roger’s my hero and he made me write all that. But don’t take my word for it. If you’re not ready to order Retention Fundraising yet, consider what these folks have to say …

Ken Burnett
“Let’s use Roger Craver’s book as a rallying call. Our sector doesn’t need more pundits, number crunchers, data geeks, social media gurus, or consultants. These people are ten a penny, and their impact has been limited at best. What we need are world-changers. Cracking donor retention is a worthy challenge for any would-be world-changer.”

Fraser Green, Author of 3-D Philanthropy
“Roger Craver understands the challenges, issues and opportunities of donor commitment and donor retention better than anyone alive. When it comes to this stuff, he’s my prophet, and Retention Fundraising is now my new scripture.”

Simone P. Joyaux, ACFRE, Author of Keep Your Donors
“Roger Craver explains the donor retention crisis and how to fix it in ways even your boss and board will understand. I marched around the room cheering. I scowled. I laughed. I suspect you will too.”

Jeff Brooks, Author of The Fundraiser’s Guide to Irresistible Communications
“There isn’t a more important topic in fundraising than donor retention, and there isn’t another book for fundraisers like this one. Fire up the left side of your brain and get ready to transform the way you think about fundraising. The results may astound you.”

Lisa Sargent, Editor of SOFII’s Donor Thank You Letter Clinics
“Whether you think you know what it takes to keep your donors, or donor retention is brand new to you, open your mind and expect Roger Craver’s book to challenge your assumptions: then put the advice he offers to the test. I emerged a smarter fundraiser for having read Retention Fundraising…you will, too. “

Tom Ahern, Author of Seeing Through A Donor’s Eyes
“Absorb the lessons in this brilliant new book from mega-master, Roger Craver. He shows you what to change in your metrics, what to change in your tactics, what to change in your messaging, and what to change in your very own heart.”

First of all, the book is not just a book. It is a goldmine of hands on practical advice with support of experience, testing and science. It is easy to read and also you can take each chapter and use on a daily basis for your work and with your staff. Rarely in fundraising you have such a clear, strategic and focused approach to one of the most well know but also most neglected issue. We keep saying ” I know we are loosing donors but what can I do?”. That’s the answer you are looking for and the end of excuses to do nothing at keeping and loving the donors.

    AMEN!

    No need to say more…

Let’s not wait another 40 years!
