Knows Nothing About Fundraising
Or at least that’s what Jason Falls claimed on his blog, Social Media Explorer.
Then he proceeded to pass along the advice he had offered in a webinar on behalf of National Safe Place.
The organization is headquartered in Louisville and started as a program of the YMCA there in 1983. They now have 140 Safe Place programs and almost 17,000 Safe Place sites around the country. Safe Place sites are locations like libraries, restaurants and grocery stores where at-risk or in-crisis children can come to and be connected with safe harbors (shelters and programs) that provide protection, food and other social services.
Jason’s three bits of advice:
- Tell a story.
- Be concrete as possible about what the contribution will accomplish.
- Make it easy to donate.
Jason … please keep on giving "uninformed" advice like that! You deserve a raise.

P.S. There are some good links to social media fundraising tips at the end of Jason’s post, Try this one from social media maven Beth Kanter.
Simplicity always wins out in the end. Well done!
