Memorial Day
Roger and I are taking the day off; it’s the end of Memorial Day weekend in the States.
Since my coming of age in the Sixties, the US has fought wars and engaged in military actions some of which I actively opposed, but nothing should detract from paying honor to those who have given their lives in military service and their families.
This weekend, we also celebrate the unofficial start of summer.
Motorhead Roger — one of the few people I know who actually seems to enjoy driving from Florida to Massachusetts — was probably glued the Indianapolis 500. My driver, Kiwi Scott Dixon, the pole favorite, thankfully survived a horrifying crash on lap 55.
As for me, I’ve hunkered down for the French Open, wondering who to root for with no Roger Federer in the tournament. This requires middle-of-the-night viewing for me, so apologies in advance if some of my posts over the next two weeks seem more incoherent than usual.
