Nonprofit Video Awards Announced
The 2014 DoGooder Video Awards have just been announced. For the eighth year, See3, YouTube, NTEN and Cisco, now joined by The National Alliance for Media and Culture and the National Youth Media Network have combined to select the best of nonprofit videos. Each of the winning videos can be viewed here.
Here are the winners:
Best of Nonprofit Video Award: “Right By You” by Partners for Mental Health. Topic: Need to do more to end tragedies like youth suicide.
Funny for Good Award: “Nutiquette: a dude’s guide to checking his nuts” from the Canadian Cancer Society. Topic: The steps for and overall importance of checking oneself for testicular cancer.
Most Inspiring Youth Media: “The Paradise That Wasn’t” from Wide Angle Youth Media. Topic: Prejudices that refugees face in America from youth that had to endure them.
ImpactX Award: “Slaying Childhood Cancer!” from Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Topic: Story of “Cancer Slayer” 15-year-old Jordan Vincent’s battle with a rare form of brain tumor that covers her brain and spine.
As a guy, I have to go with “Nutiquette” — the song alone is worth it!
Watch them all. Get inspired. Make a video. Get it online.

P.S. Thanks to all the sponsors!
You HAVE to give the Canadian Cancer Society an Agitator raise for Nutiquette. What a great way to capture the attention of their audience. And it’s interesting, because it flies in the face of the current storytelling craze and goes back to a good old-fashioned corny jingle. I’m singing the song! The other ones are amazing too — and “The Paradise that Wasn’t” is quite an eye-opener — but I’ll agree with you in giving the nod to this one. Thanks so much for bringing these to us.
