Social Media Video Primer
Especially if you work in a small nonprofit, you’ll find this video presentation by Tim Bete —19 ways nonprofits can use social media to connect with donors — quite helpful.
Tim is the communications guy at St Mary Development Corporation (focused on housing for the disadvantaged) in Dayton, Ohio. He’s the classic one-armed paperhanger small nonprofits know well! But he’s found creative ways to leverage limited time and budget to put his organization on the online map.
Tim’s presentation (52 minutes) demolishes four key reasons smaller nonprofits might not use social media:
1. Don’t know how to use the technology.
2. Don’t know what kind of content to create.
3. Don’t have time.
4. Don’t have the money.
I particularly like Tim’s suggestions about the online tools that can leverage the limited time you might have to maintain your online presence.
Great presentation Tim. You deserve a raise!

Prediction for Tim Bete: book deal, whirlwind speaking tour and global fame forthcoming. This video is brilliant. And, P.S.: 480,000 Face Book users will pass away in the U.S. this year? Which .org will be first to share legacy info there, I wonder… š Thanks a million for your work, Tim. — Lisa
Lisa, thanks for the kind words! If I get a book deal, you’ll be the first person I sign a copy for š
Perfect for a small non-profit, which I help run. Way to go, Tim!
