Treasure Chest From Pew Research
Regular readers of The Agitator will know how impressed I am with the research and analysis provided by Pew Research, especially with regard to online trends, media habits, and the confluence of media and politics/advocacy.
But you don’t need to rely entirely on The Agitator to get this data. In fact, Pew now offers direct access to their raw data, as well as a set of useful Trend compilations, if you want to dig deeper yourselves into these areas.
Here, for example, is a trend report on what Americans do online. It covers about 80 activities, and for each, references when the stat was last updated. For example, 56% watch video clips, 38% pay bills, 35% use social sites, and 20% make donations.
I think Pew Research does very solid work, and so I generally use their data as my touchstone when considering what other polls and surveys report. And their analysis is much meatier than the standard fare served up in the media.
So, if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool datahead, or just need occasional reliable trend and media usage data to inform your marketing planning, try the folks at Pew Research.
